bareminerals bareskin

Annie Reviews:

bareMinerals Bareskin pure brightening serum foundation

Price: £28.00 (but you also need the powder which costs another (£27.00)

The brand blurb on this product is that it is ‘designed to feel weightless and look flawless, bareSkin is a powerful mineral foundation and skin brightening serum in one that is packed with natural ingredients. Enjoy the brightening power of vitamin C and the antioxidant protection, which help defend against environmental stressors.’

There is no doubt that is it very light and gives a good colour – though be very careful to match to your skin in good light. I made the mistake of purchasing under airport lighting and now look like Elizabeth the 1st in her Gloriana portrait! Also, the very helpful sales person was adamant that I needed the mineral powder to set it. She was right – without the powder it can look shiny and uneven. Another tip was to make sure you shake the bottle before every use – or the pigment is left in the bottle and you have a face full of serum.

Feel: Very light – great for summer.

Scent: Neutral to a little chemically – despite the natural ingredients.

Packaging: Nothing exciting. Be careful when you tip up the bottle as it pours out and you waste a lot of product.

Results: Gives reasonable coverage but you have to use it with a brush or it smears and streaks. Also if you use too much it looks false.

Value: At £28.00 for a relatively small bottle and the fact that you need the powder to go with it – not really great value.

Rating: 6/10. It is a faff to apply with a brush all the time and you need the powder which only extends the process.  Not surprising that 30% of reviews on the website give a rating of 3/5 or less.
